The Danish Championships in skateboarding
August 28, 2021 we hosted the Danish championship of skateboarding, in the category’s Senior women, Junior Girls and Junior Boys. Together with the skateboard academy, Gule Hal, Køge and Rullesport Denmark.
In the 2021 the announcement came that due to corona. only the Senior men’s category would be held this year. 2019 was the first year that Denmark had a women’s category in the skateboard championships. And the danish women and girls were finally starting to enter skate competition around Denmark, and were looking forward to the championships. So we in obviously decided to try to get permission to arrange the remaining categories of the championships.
Arranging and organizing an event is never as easy as you think. And an official championship, with rules, time scheduling, judges, budgets and skater kids parents is always a handful :) Even though the National championships points is no longer counted to the world skate ranking system for the Olympics. We think its still an important tradition to keep alive.
we teamed up with the Skateboard academy who previously have organized the danish championships, and Rullesport Denmark, and we also teamed up with Gule Hal in Køge as a location, to be able to run the event even if it would rain. The park have a street area and a bowl so its a perfect little indoor skatepark.
It’s a super beginner friendly skatepark, and we ended up seeing some awesome runs from all the skaters that day. It was Amazing to be a part of creating memories for the new generation of competition skaters.
